Life as a international student

As I read so far, Sookan gradually adopt the life in America and starting to find out she’s future. Although life is not always wonderful there, such as incomprehension, hard work and tiredness is always around. However, you still can get support and feel care and love from you friends and families. I feel there are a lot of similarities between my life in America as Sookan’s, but there are also some differences which is reasons of time period and personalities. The story is really engaging and attract my whole attention, because it represent the same things which is also truly happened on me.

According to the book, Sookan talks about she’s homesick in American, which is very similar to me. Although I have already studied in America for more than I year and traveled back to my hometown in China every holiday , a mightiness feeling of homesick puzzle me at night which me think of my lovely little sister and my families who are looking forward to see me in China. The homesick confused me and it is really hard for me to get rid of this. Like nightmare it appears in my dreams and disturb my daily life. However, the story of Sookan let me feel being understood and Though how Sookan treat her homesick. I find out that playing and chatting with my friends is really helpful which help me to get rid of my bad feelings. Therefore, reading this book is like chatting with a friend who have the same experience which enlighten me and give me helpful advice.

In the book, the conflict between culture also attract my interests. Sookan talks about how the grammar is different between English and Korean and the differences on their tradition. For example, In Korean people should obey elders and mostly live a life planned by them. However, in America people usually can choose there life based on their interests instead of listen to elders. Nonetheless, there are also many differences on manner, dresses and food which is similar in my situation in China; Based on the history China has a lot of tradition, and it is even different in diverse places. There are 56 nation in China, so as you can imagine how many tradition Chinese people have. However, In another ways to tell China is also a new country founded for less than 100 years which cause the new culture from western make a big conflict with the native culture. Therefore, I am very interested in the conflict in the book which also may show the future of China. Is it the different culture going to combine and form a new one or something else may happen. That is the second reason why I am interested in the story of Sookan.

As you can see, the book really attract my interests. It not only help me understand how should I live in America, but also shows me the conflict between culture which is a topic I am very interested in.

Dear sister

I am really sorry that I didn't write you a journal as you asked me to since the first day to America. Because, they are so many new things around me, and I have to stay late on studies, I can hardly spend time on writing a journal. However, I know that you are concern about how my life goes here, so  I will try my best to write to you everyday. I hope you can understand me. Otherwise I lived well here hope you stay healthy and worthly there, too.

Relive your day

Edge of tomorrow is a movie direct by Doug Liman and the film starring are Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. It is a military science fiction film which based on a screen play from a Japanese light novel All You Need Is Kill in 2004. I watched this movie during the flight to China on winter break, and I am so impressed about how imaginary and creatively the story is which is different with all the science fiction movie I have ever seen. Therefore I suggest all of you to watch this movie because of the imagination and the creation it contains.

The film is about a story happen in future earth which is invade by aliens and the main character who is a politics officer is forced to go to a land operation because of his supervisor. He go to the war and died very soon, but luckily he killed a special alien before he die which gives him a special ability which is if he died he will relive and repeat that day. He died thousand times and gently he learns how to fight with alien and be familiar with their weakness. However, he lose his ability because he get hurt and transfusion by the doctor make his ability disappeared. Now he only have one last chance to kill the mother of all aliens who also control them. Fortunately, he made it at last and died with the alien’s mother together. Another reason I like this movie so much is because of its ending. It gives us a happy ending which he get the ability again from the alien’s mother before he died and he find out that he relive to the day when he is going to see his supervisor and there are no aliens in that time line.

My favorite part of the movie is when the main character who’s name is cage change himself and learn from the experience of his thousands deaths. He turns from a politics officer who even don’t know how to shot and afraid of war to a solider who is good at fighting with aliens and never afraid of death, because he knows that behinds there are billions of Innocent people need to be saved by him. We can see that from the last scene which he died together with the alien’s mother; You need to know that at first he is a person who mortally afraid of death and he said that’s the reason why he choose to be a politics officer instead of a soldier at first. I learned a spirit from his changing which tells me that if you never give up of the problem you will finally achieve it. My motto changes to “Never give up!” after I watched this movie.

As you can see, I really suggest you to watch this film because of its creation and imagination; it is a film with lots of fun, and you also can learn something from it just like me!
